And then there’s this one for the second volume.
For the first volume, we did a short one-page “advert” comic for every issue, which we included in the comic, but not the trade. They were our first B-sides. With the second volume, we’d expanded the B-side into a much larger thing. The advert also had more use - we included this as the back of every issue, as it seemed to tonally work as an intro of WHAT WE ARE for this volume.
Compare and contrast with the last one is telling. I’m not sure if it’s any more confident, but it definitely knows itself better. The first is very TELL in its mood, while this is a new character explaining the concept of the book while really telling you about himself.
I wouldn’t have written this for almost anyone other than McKelvie. These things are little showcases for what he does.
